Prepare: Online Modules

Pre-Reqs: access to Prepare happens 24-48 hours after you have completed your Pre-Onboarding tasks.

Time needed: 3-5 hours

Details: These online modules will help you prepare for academic advising and learn key OSU processes, tools, and resources, including finances, technologies, and campus support. The modules are in Canvas, OSU’s learning platform, giving you a chance to practice navigating course material.

As part of the Prepare module, you must complete the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment — an online, adaptive exam that evaluates your current math skills and helps identify the course level that’s the best fit for you.

Troubleshooting: If the modules don’t appear on your Canvas dashboard or you receive an “Access Denied” message, this is because it has not been 24-48 hours since you completed your pre-onboarding tasks. Please check back later for access. If 48 hours have passed since completing your pre-onboarding tasks, see troubleshooting options below.

What’s next? 24 - 48 hours after completing Prepare, you will be able to begin Activate.

Getting Started

You will not be able to begin the modules until 24-48 hours have passed after completing your pre-onboarding tasks.

Access Canvas using your ONID (Oregon State account).
Select Prepare: Online Modules.
Review the Welcome page.
Select the “Start Here” button to begin the modules.
Complete the ALEKS Math Assessment.
- You must complete ALEKS and have your score in hand before you can complete Prepare.
Complete all modules.
- This information will ensure you are ready for your next step, Activate: advising and registration.
Requirements to complete Prepare and move onto Activate (virtual advising and registration): you must submit all assignments within each module, complete the ALEKS math assessment, and submit the Prepare Online Modules Completion quiz.

How do I request accommodations for the Prepare Online Modules?

To request accommodations for completing the Prepare: Online Modules, please visit OSU's Disability Access Services.

Troubleshooting

What if I don’t see the Prepare: Online Modules when I log into Canvas or I am receiving an "Access Denied" message?

Please try the following options:

First, make sure that 24-48 hours have passed since you completed your pre-onboarding tasks.
If 24-48 hours have passed, then:
- Make sure your Canvas Dashboard is in "Card View." Click on the three dots at the top of the page to confirm or adjust the view. If "Card View" is not selected, click on it to select.

Use the left-side menu and choose "Courses." Find the book icon and click on it. Then, click on Prepare: Online Modules.
If you cannot find it here, click "all courses" to locate.
