Log in to Beaver Basecamp to take care of the checklist items that need your attention!
Step 1: Prepare
After the pre-orientation tasks, you'll move on to Prepare, a series of online modules designed to support your transition to the university learning environment. Prepare begins in early May.
You'll access Prepare using Canvas, an online learning platform you'll use frequently at Oregon State.
Complete Prepare by early June when Activate: Advising & Registration opens.
Once you’ve completed your modules, you can register for Launch, your on-campus summer orientation, and you can move into Activate when it opens in June.
Step 2: Activate
Activate is your virtual academic advising and course registration phase. You’ll access it via Beaver Hub, the student dashboard that you’ll be using throughout your time at Oregon State.
Activate will open June 9 if you've already completed Prepare: Online Modules. If you complete Prepare after June 9, you’ll get access to Beaver Hub within 48 hours of submitting your final quiz.
Advising and registration appointments will run from June 16-Aug. 11.
By the time you attend Launch, you should have your advising appointment scheduled.
Step 3: Launch
Launch is your summer orientation. You'll meet other students, explore campus, and take part in interactive sessions to help you build connections and get ready to start the term. If you're unable to travel to Corvallis, a limited number of Virtual Launch options are available.
Registration for Launch will show up as a task in Beaver Basecamp after you've completed the Prepare: Online Modules.
All students are expected to attend either an in-person or virtual Launch session between July 8 - Aug. 11, 2025.
Visit our Launch page for session information and details.
Pre-Term Reminders
Before Launch: Check your Activate Success Plan in Beaver Hub for any lingering tasks related to setting up your advising appointment and getting registered for classes.
Throughout the summer: Get in the habit of checking your Oregon State email address frequently for reminders and updates. Watch for invites from the office of New Student Onboarding to attend online events that will help you gear up for the school year!
Before Connect: Check Beaver Hub for tasks like completing your immunization records. If you’re living on campus, check your Housing Portal for updates related to your room assignment and move-in date.
Step 4: Connect
Connect kicks off your first term at Oregon State. During this multi-day pre-term event, you’ll deepen the relationships you formed at Launch, take part in longstanding OSU traditions, and attend sessions to hone your academic skills before the term begins.
This is your chance to settle in, make memories, and get to know your new community at OSU.
If you’re living on campus, residence hall move-in is one of the events that will take place during Connect.
Visit the Connect page to see a sampling of the events that welcome all new students to Beaver Nation.
Step 5: Engage
Onboarding doesn’t end when the term begins – support continues in the Engage phase throughout your first year at Oregon State.
Your first term, you'll take a Transitions course that builds on what you’ve learned in previous phases of onboarding.
We’ll keep reaching out with info. Watch for The Student Success Weekly, an email with deadline reminders, helpful study tips, and more.
You’ll meet with academic advisors each term to plan your classes and check on your progress.
Stay connected, ask for help when you need it, and remember: you don’t have to do this alone.
