Engage
Support for new students continues in the Engage phase throughout your first year at Oregon State, with multiple experiences and support systems designed to weave you into university life.
- During your first term, you’ll take a Transitions course that builds on what you’ve learned during your onboarding. Your Transitions course will help you become even more familiar with the tools and resources here to support you at OSU and what it means to be a member of the Oregon State community. Your Transitions coursework will also guide you to think about what your personal, academic, and long-term professional goals are, and what steps you can take to reach them.
-
You’ll meet with academic advisors each term to plan your coursework, monitor your progress, and reflect on your long-term goals. Your plans may change as you continue to take new courses and discover more about your academic and professional interests, and that’s okay – stay in regular communication with your advisor to stay informed and maximize your education.
-
We’ll keep reaching out with information. Watch for The Student Success Weekly, an email with deadline reminders, helpful study tips, tools, and advice to help you stay on track.
-
There are many ways you can make the most of your time at Oregon State: find others who share your interests in a student club; discover leadership opportunities in student government or Greek life; build your resume with on-campus work, internships or research; make lasting memories at signature events like Dam Jam and Beaver Bash.
No matter how you choose to engage during your first year, remember that you don’t have to do this alone.
Reach out whenever you need it – we're happy to help or connect you to support.
