We're so excited to welcome the whole family to Oregon State University!

What will START look like for parents and families?

While students at START are getting ready to begin their transition to Oregon State University, we will also be providing programming and events for parents and families to learn about the campus, the university and how to support students through this exciting milestone! Depending on the type of START session your student is attending, the types of events for parents and families may be different, but all orientations will include informational programming to learn more about Oregon State!

In Person START

Throughout the day of orientation, there will be multiple events for parents and families. The following events are typically offered as part of your START day!

First Year START Parent and Family Events

Transitions in the family presentation
University Housing and Dining (UHDS) presentation
Safety and culture of Oregon State presentation
Academic support panel
Dollars and Sense presentation from the offices of Financial Aid and Student Accounts (with students)
College-specific events (with students, but some colleges will have parent and family focused content as well)
Resource fair (with students)
Residence hall tour (with students)
Parent and Family campus tour

Transfer Student START Parent and Family Events

Transitions in the family presentation
Academics at Oregon State presentation
Health and safety at Oregon State panel
Academic support at Oregon State panel

Virtual 1 START

The majority of virtual START will be asynchronous, previous informational panels about our campus resources are available for parents and family to view. Drop-in sessions are an opportunity to drop-in and ask questions - these are not panels. No registration is required!
