Hiring is complete for summer 2017

New Student Programs & Family Outreach is seeking to employ qualified, currently enrolled undergraduate students who identify as a transfer students.  Applicants need to be enthusiastic, hard-working and committed to assisting welcome new transfer students and their family during the summer Transfer START program and Welcome Week.  Transfer START is the summer advising and registration program for incoming students and their families.  Transfer Ambassadors will take away new skills and experiences that will open doors and aid them in future careers and opportunities.

If you are hired to ba a START Leader and you are a transfer student, then you are qualified and will be hired to be a Transfer Ambassador as well as long as you are able to commit to the Transfer START program dates.

Responsibilities

    • Assist in the implementation of all Transfer START programs, this requires employees to work all Transfer START programs (see dates below)
    • Provide excellent customer service to a diverse audience and communicate accurate and helpful information to new students and their family members attending the program.
    • Assist new transfer students in developing peer relationships, academic effectiveness, and personal adjustment to OSU through small and large group discussions, individual advisement and positive interactions
    • Attend required summer training (see dates below)

      Qualifications:

        • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a high profile position.
        • Possess familiarity with OSU resources and services.
        • Possess high level of maturity and an ability to use independent judgment.
        • Desire to make a difference in the lives of new students and their families.
        • Current undergraduate student, planning to continue Fall term 2017.
        • Must have been admitted to OSU as a transfer student.
        • Must be an undergraduate degree-seeking student in good academic standing at time of application and throughout employment.
        • Must be in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards at time of application and throughout employment.
        • Committed to attending all Transfer START programs and trainings.

          Required Training & Transfer START Sessions

          Transfer Ambassadors are expected to attend and participate in all trainings and all training sessions.

          • Summer Training: June 19-21, 2017: 8:00am- 5:00pm
          • June 22: 7:00am-5:00pm
          • July 12: 7:00am-5:00pm
          • July 26: 7:00am-5:00pm
          • August 30: 7:00am-5:00pm

          Remuneration/Compensation

          Each ambassador will be paid $10.25 per hour.
